Rogelio A. Gordon, Panama Canal Commission

Rogelio A. Gordon started his career in the Panama Canal Commission in 1981 as machinist apprentice.  He was later assigned to the Mechanical Engineering Section as Mechanical Engineer Trainee in 1983 and was promoted to Supervisor of the Machinery Design Unit in 1987; to Manager of the Engineering Section of the Industrial Division in 1996; to Manager of the Mechanical Engineering Section of the Engineering Division in 1998.  In 2008 he was appointed Executive Manager of the Dredging Division.

He obtained his Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Panama in 1980.  He has a MBA from the INCAE Business School and he graduated from the Executive Leadership Program of the Panama Canal.  He is a Project Manager Professional, certified by the Project Management Institute.

Complementary to his college education, managerial and professional studies, he has attended seminars and specialized training in the United States, Canada, England, Holland, and Mexico.

David John McGillewie, Deputy Chief Engineer, Transnet National Ports Authority, South Africa

David McGillewie started his career with the then SA Railway and Harbours, now the Transport National Ports Authority, as an Assistant Engineer, after graduating from the University of Cape Town with a BSc Civil Engineering degree in 1976. He worked in various cities around South Africa being joining the ports division in 1981.

In 1993 he was appointed to Deputy Port Engineer of the Port of Durban managing various mega marine capital projects until being appointed Deputy Chief Engineer in 2012. The Chief Engineering division manages the engineering function for all civil and electrical infrastructure in all the ports of South Africa from maintenance to new capital projects.

He obtained his Masters of Business Leadership MBL from the University of South Africa in 1994 with his research report on the topic "The Port Authority Concept as a Possible Solution to the National Commercial Port Organisational Structure in a New South Africa"

He has presented a paper at the 11th International Harbour Conference in Antwerp in June 1996 on "Large Diameter Tyre Fenders"
