Dredging and Sustainability - How wide is the Gulf?

Conference Report

May 6 - 7 2008, The Qatar International Exhibition Centre, Doha, Qatar.

Some 100 international experts involved in dredging related activities participated in the first ever Central Dredging Association (CEDA) conference in the Middle East.

The conference was very well received by the participants, practitioners and scientists coming from 17 different countries to Qatar representing the whole cross-section of CEDA’s membership: project owners, dredging companies, consultants, dredge builders, regulators and various service providers. The presentations in five technical sessions covered a broad range of topics including more theoretical papers on hydraulic and geotechnical aspects of the design of man-made islands and detailed case studies of various projects in the Arabian Gulf.

As one of the participants said: “The sequence of presentations was very effective with subjects linked to each other and allowing an excellent flow of topics.”
